Abstract

Vascular risk factors are known contributors to cognitive decline and dementia; however, their impact on cognitive change in diverse samples is understudied. In this study, we investigated the effect of the AHA Life’s Simple 7 (LS7) on cognitive decline in the bi‐ethnic San Antonio Longitudinal Study of Aging (SALSA) cohort.

Research summary

The paper investigates the relationship between mid-life cardiovascular health and cognitive decline, which is pertinent to aging and age-related diseases. However, it primarily focuses on the correlation between vascular risk factors and cognitive outcomes rather than addressing the root causes of aging or proposing interventions for lifespan extension. The findings may contribute to understanding cognitive decline in diverse populations, but the impact on the broader field of longevity research is limited.
