Abstract

Cognitive frailty (CF) has been proposed as a state of reduced cognitive reserve that is intermediate between age‐related cognitive changes and neurodegenerative diseases. We aim to examine (i) whether cognitive frailty presents with risk factors distinct from isolated phenotypes of physical frailty and cognitive impairment, (ii) reversibility of cognitive frailty subtypes.

Research summary

The paper addresses cognitive frailty, which is a significant aspect of aging and its associated cognitive decline. By exploring distinct risk factors and the potential reversibility of cognitive frailty, the research contributes to understanding how to mitigate cognitive decline in older adults. However, while it presents solid research, it does not fundamentally address the root causes of aging or propose transformative solutions, limiting its overall impact.
